Education

Bachelor of Science Graduate degree in Biological Sciences from CSULA / 3.7 GPA Applying as a Masters Student in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics at CSULA in 2015.

Experience

I have been a Private Tutor since 2009, specializing in all levels of Mathematics and Sciences, as well as English, Writing Composition, and Standardized Test Preparation, including SAT, ACT, GED, SSAT, and GRE. I have also tutored children through Academic Advantage, a tutoring company specializing in helping low-income students as part of the No Child Left Behind Act. I have taken classes and excelled in subjects ranging from College English, Composition, Mathematics through Calculus III, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Psychology, and Sociology, and have had extensive training in a broad range of biological subjects, including biometrics, writing for biologists, ecology, cell biology, genetics, endocrinology, anatomy and physiology, neuroanatomy, neurodevelopment, and zoology. I have a strong passion for educating children and aiding them in achieving their goals as competitive students in their academic environment. My deepest enjoyment stems from seeing students excel and thrive in subjects that have been problematic for them in the past. I use a variety of methods to assist students in grasping otherwise difficult materials, including educational games, pre and post tests, study guides, and online resources. I also track students weekly development and continuous progress, encouraging students with practice problems and tests through positive reinforcement. I love working with children, and gain immense pleasure from watching them succeed and overcome their learning issues to become exceptional students.

Hobbies

I am an avid competitive pianist, as well as an amateur painter. My hobbies include gardening, ballet and tango dancing, horseback riding, learning multiple languages, and spending time outside. I spend my weekends volunteering at Special Spirits Ranch, which caters to Autistic children and helps them gain confidence through learning how to ride and care for horses. I also spend my weekends as a Tree People volunteer, which aids in restoring wildlife habitats in damaged urban and mountainous areas. Some of my time is also spent at Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission where I assist in preparing and serving fresh meals to homeless and low income families. I am also a mentor with the Youth Mentoring Connection, where I provide guidance and support for struggling youths in the Los Angeles area. Currently, I am working towards obtaining my yoga instructor certification. Lastly, I completed the Street Yoga Certification Program in Los Angeles, which is designed to help youths overcome trauma and to create meaningful, healthy lives through yoga and mindfulness.
