Experience
As a former special educator and current tutor, I have dedicated years to working with youth and have a natural ability to build rapport with others. I believe that there is nothing more remarkable than watching a student's eyes light up when they learn something new. Throughout the years, I have served as a tutor and homework helper from kindergarten through college. I pride myself on being adaptable, receptive and most of all caring of all those I work with. I specialize in creating individualized, dynamic instruction for all students in all academic subjects and standardized test preparation. Additionally, having participated in several Individualized Education Program meetings as a special educator, I know how to handle difficult conversations with kindness and understanding while still being direct and honest. Similarly, I also gained experience in helping to manage caseloads for students who needed 504 accommodations. In both my roles as a special educator and an after-school provider, I became very acquainted with creating and maintaining accurate documentation. During my time in the education field, I worked with a wide variety of families and became adept at meeting the needs of all stakeholders. Additionally, instructing large and small groups taught me how to manage a room of multiple, simultaneous needs and expectations while also facilitating space for individuals to process their ideas. Finally, with a degree in Fiction Writing and Education and my experience as an office administrator, I am inclined to be detail-oriented, focused on deadlines, extremely organized and highly creative in addition to being fluent in the Microsoft Office Suite.

Hobbies
When I am not tutoring, I am studying to become a therapist. Through my future career as a therapist, I hope to work with children and adolescents struggling with chronic pain and illnesses. I spend much of my time researching different counseling theories and their effectiveness. When I am not studying, I love reading, writing, live music and enjoying the outdoors.
